As Chandrayaan 2 heads towards the moon, one wonders about the photographic equipment being used. Amazingly, a full 50 years have passed since man first set foot on the moon on July 20, 1969. It will interest readers to note that the first camera brand to be chosen for the American space programme in 1961 was a Leica. In 1962, astronaut Walter Schirra selected the Hasselblad 500C. A Zeiss lens, the Planar 50 mm f/2.8 was mounted on the Hasselblad, and the legendary partnership between NASA and Hasselblad started. Over the years, a number of Hasselblad cameras have been left on the moon.

Which camera has the Indian space mission used? We will tell you as soon as we know.

Meanwhile, the main feature of this issue is the EISA Awards, which were announced on August 15, 2019. Our heartiest congratulations to Nikon for the Z6, which won the Camera of the Year Award.
