Canon recently launched the EOS-1D X Mark II, a new flagship, successor to the EOS-1D X. Equipped with a 20.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, the camera boasts dual DIGIC 6+ image processors and 4K video capability.
“The EOS-1D X Mark II is Canon’s answer to the top rung professional photographers’ unrelenting pursuit of excellence in imagery. This camera is aimed at top professionals who demand the best of speed, accuracy and results, and essentially cannot afford to miss a moment,” said Andrew Koh, Vice President, Consumer Imaging & Information Centre, Canon India.
The 1D X Mark II also comes with a new 61-point AF system including 41-cross type points, which greatly enhances the focus accuracy and speed. The camera is equipped with Al servo AF III+, a new AF algorithm that improves AF precision in fast and unexpectedly moving subjects. Another important point to note is that all the 61-points are compatible with f/8 or faster apertures, which, till now, was limited to few centralised points. This will be extremely helpful for wildlife and sports photography.
The 1D X Mark II additionally features an improved mirror vibration suppression mechanism which enables frame rates of up to 16 fps when shooting with Live View, without any screen blackout. The camera has dual card slots — for a CFast 2.0 card slot for high-speed writing, along with a CF card slot. 4K videos can be recorded at 60/50p, and Full HD recording is possible with up to 120/100 fps, enabling slow motion video capture. The EOS-1D X Mark II has a shutter that has been tested for 400,000 actuations. The body is encased in a robust magnesium alloy body and is drip and dust-proof. The 1D X Mark II body will be available from April at an MRP of Rs.4,55,995.
