Canon Inc. stated on April 8 that a headway is being made in the progress of XF-AVC- a new video format that has been targetted at efficient video recording, particularly for formats like 4K, 2K and HD.
The new format will define each and every recording method for the visual and audio data components that comprise the individual video files. The XF-AVC uses the MPEG-4AVC/ H.264 video compression format, which makes use of a high data compression rate without affecting the quality of the image. It furthur supports recording on memory cards that have video content in formats such as 4K, 2K and HD.
The XF-AVC also smoothens colour grading and other editing processes. This format will be incorporated in Canon’s 4K video camcorders such as the XC10 and EOS C300 Mark II. By also joining hands with different manufacturers, Canon will bring to the table improved ease and convenience when it comes to cinema production workflows.
The format features a newly developed 1-inch Type 12-megapixel CMOS image sensor, new DIGIC image processor engine, 3.0 inch vari-angle touch screen OEL panel and is equipped with a 10x zoom lens.
