Whilst the whole world is drawn towards Artificial Intelligence and its potential impact, it is interesting to note that in several countries, younger photographers are getting drawn to film photography. Apparently, film works for a photographer who needs more time to think and figure out his shot without any ‘obstruction’ from screens. Agree or not, demand for films in several countries is rising and no one wants to risk calling it a passing fad. Just in case you did not know, Lomography has introduced the Lomography MC-A 35 mm film compact camera in the European market and first reports indicate that it is not selling too badly.
Meanwhile, thanks to AI and Instagram, photography is increasingly becoming a story telling exercise and in this endeavour, video is playing a domineering role. Is still photography doomed? Don’t panic, just yet.
