Nikon announced the D5500, an entrylevel D-SLR that is a replacement to the D5300. It has a 24 MP CMOS sensor with no optical low pass filter and a 3.2-inch Vari-angle touch screen LCD with 1.37 M-dot display. The camera is lighter and smaller than its predecessor. The camera measures 124x97x70mm and weighs about 420g (body only). It off ers the same 1080/60 p video capability as the D5300. The camera has Wi-Fi capability, but the built-in GPS that the D5300 had will be missing in the D5500. It will be available as body only, or with the AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5- 5.6 G VR II or with the AF-S DX Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR. The D5500 will be available from February in a black or red colour body.
