An Allrounder
There are top end photography monitors and then there are a second line of potentially good graphic and photography monitors. The second category is essentially made up of monitors which are excellent for multimedia playback, but has some graphics capability too. The Asus Designo MX27UQ is one such model.
The MX27UQ is a 27-inch IPS monitor capable of delivering 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) content. The monitor features Low Blue Light to reduce eye fatigue. The monitor delivers 100% sRGB colour gamut. A pixel density of 163 pixels per inch allows the monitor to reproduce sharper images with more details and textures. The high-performance IPS panel of the MX27UQ provides up to 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio along with 178-degree wide viewing angles. The LED-backlit display is stated to cover the entire sRGB colour space, ideal for photo and video editing along with home entertainment.
The MX27UQ has a thin bezel and has a stylish design. Being a Designo series model, the monitor is crafted with a stunning brushed metal bezel with an Icicle Gold finish. A circular stand combines the aesthetic appeal with a minimalistic charm. The monitor measures 1.25cm at its thinnest point and the bezel is 0.1cm thick.
The monitor features ASUS SonicMaster audio technology co-developed with ICEpower and Bang & Olufsen for truly immersive sound. Built-in 3-Watt Bluetooth stereo speakers enable wireless music streaming. The hardware refines every acoustic detail to deliver crystal clear sound with more distinct vocals, wide frequency range, and superior audio fidelity. The monitor can be paired with Bluetooth-enabled smart phones and tablets to play your favorite music wirelessly, even with your monitor in standby mode. The built-in AudioWizard allows you to choose settings to suit the effect you require. You can access its four pre-set modes via the onscreen display (OSD) menu. The preset modes include Music, Movies, Game and User modes. In User mode, you can customise the sound levels in each frequency to your liking.
Blue Light Filter provides five levels of adjustment. The device carries a certification from TÜV Rheinland laboratories to be flicker-free and to emit low blue light levels. This helps minimise eyestrain, usually experienced during prolonged viewing.
The MX27UQ features a DisplayPort, HDMI (v2.0) and HDMI (v1.4) input ports along with a SuperSpeed USB charger that provides 5V/1.5A power output to quick-charge mobile devices. The monitor also provides a standard headphone jack. The monitor measures 614.4 x 429.5 x 225.4mm (WxHxD) and weighs 8.0kg (gross). The Aus Designo MX27UQ retails at an MRP of ₹115,000 and is expected to be available in the market shortly.
