The flurry of launches of smaller and cheaper APS-C cameras by Canon, Nikon and Sony is a welcome development as it enables both beginners and enthusiasts to indulge in their passion for photography at lower prices. A similar launch of several smaller and cheaper APS-C lenses should follow.
As more and more camera manufacturers embrace v-logging, it is high time that the audio side of v-logging took a quantum jump. Monitoring audio quality whilst shooting is well nigh impossible today but certainly should be an area marked for improvement by manufacturers. Perhaps the camera manufacturers who also make camcorders (and therefore realise the importance of audio) could take the lead.
Meanwhile, as we reach the 50th Anniversary of its launch, all of us at SP pay tribute to the Olympus OM-1, a camera that redefined what an SLR should be and sent the competition back to the drawing board. Olympus’ chief designer Yoshihisa Maitani proved that he was a master at design and innovation. Long live the OM-1!
