Canon to buy Sweden’s Axis for $2.8 billion

Canon Inc has made an offer of US $2.83 billion for network video surveillance leader Axis AB on Tuesday, the biggest purchase ever for the company. Canon already sells surveillance cameras and expects more from the growing market. The deal will make Canon a top player in the video surveillance market. Axis said it will remain as a separate legal entity within Canon, and that its current management team will stay.
