Casio Computer Co. has created a new projector, the ‘XJ-V1’ and plans to populate it in new markets in emerging economies such as the Southeast Asian markets. The product has been successfully marketed in the Middle-Eastern and Latin American market. The company is estimating an 80% year-on-year jump in sales for the current fiscal year.
The new model makes use of the original light source combining LED and blue-laser unit, which was created by the company in 2010. The first model’s performance was not favourable due to increased prices. The company reduced the number of laser units from 24 to 7. It further developed a lower-priced projection lens. Casio was successful in reducing the price by 20 to 40%. The device is expected to sell at about 70,000 yen. The original light source lasts for nearly 20,000 hours, 4 times more than halogen lamps, which are utlised in most of the projectors. The power consumption is almost halved in comparison to the competitor’s products.
