Exhibition brings out Monday Morning Hues

October 13, 2015 by SPEdit Team

NExhibition1Our regular contributor Ashok Kandimalla held a solo exhibition titled ‘Monday Morning Hues’ from 11th -28th September at Hyderabad. The title takes after the wellknown phrase ‘Monday morning blues’ which connotes to work. The aim of these photographs was to give the viewer a deeper understanding of daily chores which many of the more fortunate amongst us tend to ignore.

The exhibition depicted people performing various tasks as they go about their daily life. All the photographs were candid shots – without the subject becoming distracted or self-conscious. While the primary emphasis was given to the worker, importance was also given to the surroundings, which, in many cases, was full of life and colour.

A few close-up images were added to show the dexterity of the workers. Street musicians – always colorful and expressive – were shown along with equally eye-catching pavement vendors. A few not so common activities like painting, sand-mining and collecting alms were also included. Finally, since work is not always done by men alone – women too play a significant role – women at work were also represented.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Padma Shri Dr. Soma Raju, the well known cardiologist and a keen photographer himself.
