The Indian Institute of Photography (IIP) organized a workshop in Ahmedabad, Gujarat ,on November 8 and 9, 2014. The two-day workshop received an immense response from the city. It was conducted by veteran photographer and core faculty of IIP, Amit Chawla. The first day’s session included interactive tutorials in photography techniques and image manipulation such as Meaning and Science of Light in Photography, Types/Genres of Photography, Exposure Triangle (Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO), Basic Tools and Interface Of Popular Image Manipulation Software etc.
The second days’s module focused on the practical aspect of a shoot, aesthetic photography and photo review that mainly emphasize on the use of aperture, creative use of shutter speed, shooting with different ISO settings, depth of field (concept, importance, factors) and rules of composition (including framing, camera angle, symmetry and balance, negative and positive spaces, using spirals, rule of thirds and geometric mean).
The students also visited the Kankaria Lake, the biggest lake in Ahmedabad, which has many public attractions such as a zoo, water park and entertainment facilities. The two-day photography workshop at Ahmedabad was an enriching experience for budding photographers and helped boost their confidence and knowledge in the long run.
