In the Trail of Nature

August 5, 2011 by spwordpress

“For as long as I can remember, visual arts has predominantly been my field of interest. Initially, I was keen about excelling in animation.

But, during my under-graduation course in Visual Communication, I discovered still photography and its magical prospects. From then on I had my mind set on learning all about the subject, the camera and experimenting”, states Coimbatore-based Devendran Jaganathan, a nature and wildlife photographer.

To strengthen the core of his talent, Devendran enrolled with Light & Life Academy, in Ooty. The harmonious beauty, and cold air of Ooty provided the best platform for him to study, explore, and realize the power he had when he held a camera in his hands. With breathtaking landscapes at every turn, amazing architectural structures adorning the roadside view, and the best of people existing in a rich, yet subtle culture to capture, what more could a student of photography ask for?

“Apart from wildlife and nature photography, to which I owe my entire photography career, the other genres that interest me are architecture and interiors, product, industrial and travel photography.”

Speaking of the support he gets from the equipment he uses, Devendran proudly mentions his inventory, “The equipment I use include the Canon 5D Mark II and the Canon EOS 400D, with 17-40mm, 50mm, and 70-200mm lenses. I also carry with me a couple of ND filters, and a polarizing filter from Singh–Ray at all times. The Kenko extension tube assists me in Macro shots. The other essentials include a Vivitar flash, and a sturdy Manfrotto tripod.

What began as a hobby for this young photographer, is now a lifelong commitment. He says, “I am quite confident that the satisfaction I get from shooting images, I won’t find anywhere else.”
