Smart Photography held its 14th edition of Innovation Technology and Imaging Awards on 28 February 2019 at Delhi. The event celebrated the best photography products reviewed by our team during 2018-19.
The Beginners’ D-SLR of the Year award went to Nikon D3500. Nikon’s new entry-level D-SLR is a solid performer with improved ergonomics and better battery life over its predecessor, the D3400. For a beginner, there is no better option.
Nikon also bagged multiple awards for its lenses. The AF-S Nikkor 105 mm f/1.4E ED lens was awarded the Best Prime Lens for D-SLRs. A portraitist’s delight, this lens produces sharp images with very smooth bokeh. It offers excellent edge-to-edge sharpness throughout the aperture range.
The Nikkor Z 24-70 mm f/4 S lens won the Standard Zoom Lens of the Year award. Nikon’s first zoom lens for its full-frame mirrorless cameras is a peach with superb optics and unmatched ergonomics. It also combines well with the Z6 and Z7 on the size front.
Nikon’s AF-S Nikkor 500 mm f/5.6E PF ED VR lens was named the Super Telephoto Lens of the Year. This 500 mm is a lightweight prime lens suitable for wildlife photography. Extremely sharp images combined with great value for money made it a favourite with us.
