Nikon announced that total production of Nikkor lenses for Nikon interchangeable lens cameras reached 80 million in mid-June. The Nikon F, and the first Nikkor lens for Nikon SLR cameras (the Nikkor-S Auto 5cm F/2.0), were released in 1959. The company continues to expand its range of lenses for its Nikon 1 system, introduced in October 2011. Nikon reached the 75 million mark only seven-and-a-half months ago, in November 2012.
