Rapid Recall – SanDisk 32GB Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-1 Card

June 17, 2011 by spwordpress

You are in a sports, photo-journalistic, or wildlife situation. You are expecting the unexpected; finger on the shutter release button, all senses alert.

Then it happens. And you squeeze off a long continuous burst for that once in a lifetime shot. The first few frames are okay; then the firing rate slows down and eventually locks the camera.

You decide to take advantage of modern technology and shoot HD movies. After a while the recording stops. Sounds familiar?

Here enters the SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-1 card – the memory card that decides your fate as a Pro Photographer. You may be a guru with your camera but if your camera cannot write to the memory card  as fast as your shutter can fire, you are nowhere. But wait, you say that the files are first sent to the Buffer, and from the Buffer they go to the memory card at the speed that the card is capable of receiving. That’s correct, but the Buffer also has a capacity which can fill up quite fast when using modern high-megapixel cameras and HD videos. What you need is a card that’s capable of going as fast as you can. That’s the SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-1.

The SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-1 is available in 8, 16, and 32GB capacities. These cards are specially designed for D-SLRs and HD Camcorders. They use SanDisk’s new Power Core Controller technology which provide up to 45MB/sec read/write speed. Its Error Correction Code (ECC) engine improves the overall performance and enhances the card’s reliability. These cards are temperature proof, water proof, shock proof and x-ray proof. They also come with a lifetime limited warranty (Some regions do not recognize the limited lifetime warranty; they offer a 30-year warranty)

For the speed jockeys, 1 MB is 1-million Bytes. 45MB/sec equals 300X where X = 150 KB/sec. Note that the speed mentioned is based on SanDisk’s own testing and the card speed may be lower, depending on the host device (the camera/camcorder). But before you get yourself this card, ensure that your camera is capable of writing fast.

SanDisk offers a 1-year downloadable RescuePRO software with every Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-1 card.

SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-1 cards are available from Rashi Peripherals (022-67090886). Contact person: Mr. Amit Jain
