Panasonic Corp unit, Sanyo Co., is in talks of selling its digital camera business to an investment fund.
Negotiations proved to be difficult because the company’s operations focus on the shrinking compact digital camera market. Sanyo, which has no camera brand of its own, supplies products to several companies including Olympus. With potential buyers among both domestic and overseas manufacturers, its digital camera production reached 11 million units in March 2011.
