Sharp has announced that it will begin a large scale production of its new kind of touch panels at its No. 2 Kameyama Factory, Mie Prefecture. It is known as the ‘Free Drawing’ panel utilising the ‘In cell method. This combines the LCD panel and sensor in order to improve sensitivity of the touch panel. It has been said that the panel can accept pencils with sharp tips and brushes. If a brush is used, the panel can reproduce traces of individual hair. The panel can be used for smartphones, tablets and laptops and larger panels for electronics signage.
