Sigma’s latest D-SLR, the 46 megapixel SD1 is said to be available in Japan since June 10th, for around 70K yen (US$8,700).
Weighing 700gms, the SD1 features a newly designed APS-C sized (23.5 x 15.7mm) FOVEON X3 CMOS sensor, a pair of ‘TRUE II’ image processing engines that enables high-speed image processing and ultra-high resolution. For the first time in the SD series, the camera allows RAW + JPEG recording of images. Also announced is a compact D-camthe 14 megapixel DP2x Reportedly selling for around 50K yen in Japan, the DP2x features a 41mm equivalent f/2.8, 7-in-6 lens that focuses down to a minimum focusing distance of 28cm.
