Sony still suffers from Mobile Communications business

January 16, 2015 by SPEdit Team

J(05_2015_Sony-Corp.)1Sony Corp. announced that their sales for the first six months ending on September 30, 2014, rose by 6.5% to 3.711 trillion Yen. Significant increase in the Games and Network Services segment and the favourable impact of foreign exchange rates contributed to this. The company reported an operating loss of 15.8 billion Yen, compared to the operating income of 49.4 billion Yen during the same period in the previous year. This deterioration was primarily due to the impairment of goodwill of 176 billion Yen, as recorded by the Mobile Communications segment. This was partially offset by significant improvements in the Games and Network Services, Imaging and Product Solutions, Home Entertainment and Sound, Pictures and Financial Services segments. Net loss increased by 92.7 billion Yen year-on-year to 109.2 billion Yen.
