Vinod Sunder—a Bengaluru-based Merchant Navy officer—put in 33 years at sea before bidding farewell to the career in early 2010. After having toyed around with Sony point-andshoots while at sea, he moved to a Nikon D3100 in 2012 and eventually graduated to a Nikon D7000. Still life photography caught his attention and after experimenting, he found his interest to be in tabletop subjects. A basic studio lighting system assists Vinod in his endeavours at home. He developed a fascination for the Bright Field and Dark Field lighting techniques used in ‘Glass photography’ and ‘Water splash photography’. He also used HO scale miniature plastic versions of people to portray their imaginary situations amongst everyday objects. Vinod believes that it was a good decision to pursue photography and is conident that it will keep him busy for many more years.
