The Story of Light Festival, Goa

The Story of Light (SOL) Festival, India’s first science-meets-art festival is being held in Panaji, Goa from January 14 – 18, 2015, in partnership with the Corporation of the City of Panjim. The festival has been conceptualized under the aegis of The International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies, 2015 (IYL 2015), a project of the United Nations which aims to raise awareness about the break-throughs in light science, its applications and its importance to humankind.

45 artists and scientists from around the world will put up installations in the public spaces of Goa. The festival line-up of includes a diverse mix of artists who will explore the numerous facets of light through installations, performances and workshops. The program will have visual play, dance performances, installations with light and colour, photography workshops, and live projections.

The festival is not for profit and is free for all to attend. It expects to draw close to 1,00,000 visitors, including school and college students, local residents and tourists, both foreign and national. The festival committee has also launched its crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo, to raise a part of its funds. The line-up and further details are available on www.thestoryoflight.org
