Venus Optics has unveiled the new Laowa 9mm f/5.6 FF RL lens for full frame cameras. The company’s 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 lens is currently the world’s widest zoom lens for full frame cameras.
Featuring a 135° angle of view, the 9mm is currently the widest non-fisheye lens ever developed for full frame mirrorless cameras. Its closest focussing distance is 12 cm measuring from subject to sensor. The lens measures 6 cm long, weighing 350g, with a lens diameter of 60mm. It is designed with 14 elements in 10 groups, with 2 big aspherical elements and 2 extra-low dispersion elements that help in eliminating chromatic aberrations. It has a 5-bladed aperture and is designed to fit a 100mm wide filter without serious vignetting. The lens is currently available in Leica M (black and silver colours), Sony FE, Nikon Z and L mount. It also supports rangefinder coupling on Leica cameras.
The Laowa 9mm f/5.6 FF RL is currently available for purchase on the Venus Optics official website and authorised resellers at a price US $899 (Leica M mount) and US $799 (Sony FE, Nikon Z and L).
