In the dynamic world of technology, 10 years, in most cases, is more than a generation. During the last 10 years that Smart Photography has been in existence, the imaging industry has been through a huge metamorphosis. Our first cover featured the Nikon F6, Nikon’s last professional film SLR and quite fittingly, we called it the Last of the Mohicans

Amongst the main changes in the last 10 years were the following:

1. The death of film
2. The demise or near demise of some of the top names connected with film, like Kodak, Agfa and Konica.
3. The rise and rise of digital imaging
4. The challenge to the D-SLR from mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras
5. The challenge to compact digital cameras from Smartphones.

At the same time, great strides have taken place in sensor and processor technology, in image stabilization and autofocus systems and in all associated areas of optical technology.

It would be appropriate to state that this was one of the most dynamic periods which the imaging industry has faced and the pace of change has not yet slowed down.

As we in SP enter our second decade, we look forward to continue to bring to our readers high quality imaging journalism with a strong emphasis on integrity and credibility.

On behalf on NGPL., I must thank all our advertisers, our readers, staff, and our stakeholders. Without the support of all of you, the tenth anniversary would have remained a dream.
