Canon has set up its digital camera production in Brazil by establishing Canon Industria de Manaus Ltda., located in the state of Amazonas.
The D-camera market in Brazil is regarded as the fourth largest one, following U.S.A., China, and Japan. An increase in demand is expected in light of hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the Olympiad in 2016. Canon intends to tap the potential market by launching the local production. The company has already established a marketing subsidiary in Sao Paulo and plans to set up marketing subsidiaries in Columbia and Peru by 2014.
