January 4, 2012 by spwordpress

In keeping with the changing world order, the Association has rechristened Photofair to Consumer Electronic Imaging Fair, better known as CEIF 2012. Chandrakant Shah (Hon. Secretary) revealed that CEIF will provide a much larger platform, wherein over 200 exhibitors will display their products and services for the benefit of over 100,000 visitors who are expected to visit the event over four days.

Jayesh Mehta (Hon President) emphasised that the present size of the electronic imaging industry is Rs. 7,000/- crores and it’s predicted to cross Rs. 10,000 crores by 2015. He clarified that the industry is growing at the rate of 15 percent and digital cameras (with sales of over 3 million units), are majorly driving this growth, which also includes other electronic hardware and imaging services. He pointed that if the government encourages this industry, especially sops like CVD, and if there is uniformity of VAT across states, there will be increased demand and it will generate not only more employment, but also an all round growth of the Gross National Product.
