“After graduating in Visual Communication (B.Sc) from Madras University, followed by a Diploma in graphic designing and, Mastercraftsmen Diploma in professional pho-tography from Shari Academy (Mumbai), I was certain that photography and visual communication were my intended choices for a profession.
Beginning my career by assisting renowned professional fashion photographer, Vikram Bawa for a year, I went on to specialise in fashion and fine-art photography. I am currently based in Chennai for the last four years with a full-fledged operating studio in place”, emphasised the young and budding prodigy, Prateek Singhi.
“Through my growing years, I developed a fascination for the interplay of light on inanimate objects and ensured that my eyes captured it all with tremendous interest and fascination. I realised there is something extraordinary to the drama of everyday life. It hit me that my calling in life was to create images through my camera. We all see things, but for me seeing is not merely looking at landscapes, people or things etc. When I see something it becomes a separate entity of its own in my mind, and then gets translated into pictures through my camera. It goes without saying that my camera and me are one, and we make a magical team. The end result we create, following my heart and the madness within, often surprises me.”
“Black & White is a unique emotion and the whole world is aware of that fact. The message is that black and white image conveys things more honestly, which color many a times cannot”, admits Prateek candidly.
