New Compact Duo from Olympus

August 31, 2011 by spwordpress

Olympus announced a new all-in-one compact camera SZ-11, mounting a 20Xzoom lens covering the area equivalent to 25-500mm in 35mm format. Dual IS mechanical image stabilization system (sensor-shift) supports the lens so that you can take movie or still shots while walking.

The SZ-11 model is equipped with a 1/2.3-inch 14MP CCD image sensor, 25-500mm equivalent, F3.0-6.9 11-in-10 zoom lens and 3.0-inch 460K-dot TFT LCD monitor. A dedicated Li-ion battery pack (LI-50B) powers the camera to record movies for about 29 minutes. This model is expected to sell for around 24,800 yen (US$310) on the street.

Olympus additionally disclosed an entry-level compact model clad in aluminum finish. The VG-145 automatically raises sensor speed to reduce camera shake to make the image reasonably free of blur. The VG-145 model is equipped with a 1/2.3-inch 14MP CCD image sensor, 4.7-23.5mm 26-130mm equivalent F2.8-6.5 7-in-5 zoom lens and 3.0-inch 230K-dot TFT LCD monitor. This flat compact will be available in Japan for about 14,800 yen (US$180).
