Olympus Corp. is expected to elect Yasuyuki Kimoto, President of Japan Research Institute Ltd., to serve as its next chairman. The appointment will be put to a vote at its shareholders meeting.
Olympus also plans to promote Executive Officer, Hiroyuki Sasa to the post of President. Sasa is expected to command his years of experience, including expertise cultivated through such positions as head of development as well as marketing at subsidiary Olympus Medical Systems Corp.
Also, Olympus will nominate six outsiders, including Asahi Kasei Corporation’s senior adviser, Shiro Hiruta and former Kao Corporation’s chairman Takuya Goto, to a new 11-member board that shareholders will vote this month.
