The new 3D sensor can process images taken with a single lens into 3D image which can be displayed on a 3D-compatible TV monitor. Panasonic has placed the newlydeveloped lens, which can split light rays according to intake angles, in front of the 2.1MP CMOS sensor which then converges rays according to angles to form images. 3D images are created without affecting image quality. The sensor can be processed utilising existing semiconductor processing technology.
