PhotoFair 2013 Day 1 Q&A – Toehold: Commi ed to Maintain Quality

January 3, 2013 by spwordpress

Jayant Sharma,
Toehold

How was 2012 for Toehold? How was the response to your various programmes?

2012 was a year of tremendous acceleration in terms of customer engagement. In every vertical we broke new ground, taking our popular workshops to many new towns and cities, adding new equipment to our photo-equipment rentals-arsenal and introducing exciting new destinations to our photo tours calendar. The response to all these initiatives has been fantastic and it motivates us to work harder and work towards making 2013 truly remarkable.

Photo tours have become very popular, especially with social media emerging as a major driving factor. What is it that distinguishes Toehold from the rest of the pack?
We take the prospect of helping our customers enjoy a productive photography-expedition very seriously. We are driven in this quest by our tour leaders, whom we call ‘Skippers’ – professional photographers who have not only a passion for their art, but also a great enthusiasm to share their knowledge freely. is helps us forge a great relationship with our customers, who nd our tours fun as well as look at it as a terrific learning opportunity. Added to this is our rich eld-experience that allows us to work with the best people in the field. Ultimately it is our holistic commitment to quality and our ability to achieve it consistently that set us apart.

How do you plan to attract new customers this year?

We believe that consistency of excellence combined with innovation is the best fuel for growth, and in line with this, we have some ambitious plans to open up new avenues that will delight customers. We have already announced photography tours to new destinations in 2013, offering state-of-the-art new equipment on rent, and many more exciting things in the pipeline which will be unveiled in due course. We are confident that many more customers will discover and enjoy the Toehold experience this year.

You have started equipment rentals in Bengaluru. How has the response been? How do you ensure the safety of equipment rented out?

Our photo-equipment rental service in Bengaluru is a pioneering and well-established venture. For over two years now, through this business, we have thrown open access to quality imaging for
everybody, by making the best photography equipment affordable, and the response has been quite encouraging. Most of our customers are loyal to us and understand that these are the very equipment that they might use again and they make sure it is well maintained and handled. However, it is surely an experiment and a value added service to our customers.
