Photofair’12 rechristened Consumer Electronic Imaging Fair (CEIF 2012), organised by AIPTIA was flagged off in the morning by Shri Uddhav Thackeray, Executive Vice President, Shiv Sena, along with Kamal M.Morarka, and Adhik Shirodkar, Senior Advocate High Court. Addressing the gathering after lighting the traditional lamp, Uddhav likened the carnival atmosphere to that of Photokina (world’s largest imaging fair in Germany) given the newer products and the big crowds who thronged to see the march of technology. He credited the AIPTIA committee for successfully organising the expo in Mumbai over the years. He even emphasised that with technologies driving and changing the business paradigm, it is all the more pertinent to conduct such a fair every year. He specially thanked reputed wildlife photographer, Kakubhai Kothari, for inviting him to be chief guest, and also added that personalities like Kakubhai should not remain behind the camera, but should be at the forefront. He felicitated him with a bouquet of flowers for his contribution to photography.
Speaking on the occasion, Adhik Shirodkar revealed that with digital technology exploding at such a fast speed, it is a tedious task to keep pace. In spite of that, the industry succeeds in bringing about futuristic innovations regularly. Earlier, Jayesh Mehta (Hon President) and Chandrakanth Shah (Hon Secretary) spoke highly of the achievements by the association, and this year proved remarkable with 215 exhibitors showcasing their products at the venue. Dhiraj Vyas, Hon Vice President, AIPTIA, while proposing a vote of thanks mentioned the showcase of five photo galleries representing heritage, glamor and wildlife photography in particular, which is a first at Photofair. Apart from this, the regular fashion shows will be held on a daily basis.
