September 30, 2011 by spwordpress

‘Luxoculus 2011’, a photography exhibition put up by the international award winning students from Girish Mistry’s Shari Academy was exhibited recently at Art Gallery, Ravindra Natya Mandir, in Mumbai.

The exhibition was inaugurated by a galaxy of photography stalwarts, including the Late Gautam Rajadhyaksha, Adhik Shirodkar (Sr. Advocate and nature photo enthusiast), Hoshang Billimoria, (Editor, Smart Photography), Chandrakant Shah (Hon. Secretary AIPTIA, J.P. Soni (Photoquip), and Kakubhai Kothari (well known wildlife photographer). In his speech, after the lighting the traditional lamp, Girish Mistry pointed out that in the year under review, two grand awards were bagged by his students at the PIE Expo in US. Girish took a moment to mention the former students of the academy, who are now a part of the faculty.

While lauding the academy’s achievements in the last 20 years, Hoshang Billimoria, congratulated the efforts of the student community. He addressed the student’s community present at the occasion, and stated that the photo industry records a growth of over 50 percent, thus ensuring a bright and secure future for all the budding photographers.
