Michihiro Yamaki, Chairman and CEO of Sigma Corp. handed over the token donation of about 537 million yen (US$6.55 million) to Mr. Genichi Igarashi, Mayor of Bandai-machi, which is where the company’s Aizu plant is located.
The money was collected from Sigma’s headquarters at home and subsidiary firms abroad to be offered to the victims of the recent tragedy, and the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident.
Mr. Yamaki said the donation is to be used for helping people in Fukushima where the company stands, and the other victims from the North Eastern region of Japan. He also stated that the company will be actively involved in the rehabilitation.
