Sony Expands its NEX and Alpha Series Line

A pair of the NEX series mirror-less compact system cameras, along with a pair of Alpha series D-SLRs have been introduced by Sony.

The models include the middle-class NEX-7 and entry-level NEX-5N, and the middle-class A-77 and entry-level A65 from the Alpha series.

The NEX-7 is equipped with a built-in flash unit. It is also equipped with an APS-C size 24.3MP (effective) Exmor APS HD CMOS image sensor that records images in RAW, JPEG or RAW+JPEG format. The NEX-5N is equipped with an APS-C size 16.1MP (effective) MP Exmor APS HD CMOS image sensor that records images in RAW, JPEG or RAW+ JPEG format. The middle-class A-77 that accepts Sony A mount and Konica-Minolta Alpha mount lenses is equipped with an APS-C size 24.3MP (effective) Exmor APS HD CMOS image sensor that records images in RAW, JPEG or RAW+ JPEG format. The A-65 is equipped with an APS-C size 24.3MP (effective) Exmor APS HD CMOS image sensor that records images in RAW, JPEG or RAW+ JPEG format. The A77 will be available for around 150K yen (US$1,800) body only, and 210K yen (US$2,600) for a kit including a fast 16-50mm F2.8 zoom lens.
