“What is in a bag?,” so do some people ask. They may never realize the importance of a sturdy camera bag until a nasty fall leaves them with a few broken equipment in the locally-made camera bag they carry. Just one look at the Lowepro Vertex 300 AW would be enough to make them want to have it. As Lowepro mentions, “this is a premium backpack for the serious adventure photographer or sports photojournalist.” No wonder then, that navigating through the innumerable pockets and chambers of the bag made me feel like a US soldier lost in the tunnels of Vietnam. The bag can be rightly called mysterious, extremely convenient, and built like a blackbox. Combine this with a limited lifetime warranty, and you have a camera and laptop bag that can take any kind of shock your equipment is likely to receive under normal circumstances. A proof of this is provided on the Lowepro website through celebrated photographer Michael Yamashita’s account of how his Lowepro camera bag protected him and his equipment from serious damages during an 80-foot fall.
Now coming to the product, the Vertex 300 AW is an all-weather camera bag that can accommodate one or two professional D-SLRs, a large 35mm or medium format system, 6 to 8 lenses (up to a 400mm f/2.8), flashgun, tripod or monopod (externally), and accessories. Lowepro’s patented all-weather (AW) cover protects the bag from extreme weather. The cover is hidden in a pouch at the underside of the bag. The bag features, just like all Lowepro camera bags, tough, durable fabrics and premium adjustable padding that can protect your equipment from any extremity.
The bag provides some innovative components as well. A Notebook Computer Case is added at the front of the bag, and it can accommodate a 17-inch notebook. The case is well-padded for ultimate protection. The camera compartment is provided with five pockets of variable sizes. Two external zip-fastened pockets at the front of the bag securely stores small accessories like memory cards, batteries and filters within pockets of various sizes. The backpack has a lightweight adjustable-torso harness system that can be adjusted at various levels, and includes a padded back pad with lumbar support. The harness has a zip-fast cover, which helps to save space while traveling. While using the harness, the cover can be folded and hidden away in its designated pouch, like the AW cover. The Lowepro Vertex 300 AW is provided with three Glide-lock systems to attach tripods or Slip-lock compatible products. To support a tripod or monopod, an additional removable tripod holder is provided. The main zippers are all water-resistant.
The Lowepro Vertex 300 AW measures 33 x 55 x 26 cm (exterior), and weighs 3.7 kg. The notebook compartment has internal dimensions of 30 x 50 x 5 cm. The Vertex 300 AW is available at an MRP of Rs.15,500. For further details, contact Rishabh Gupta of Inter Foto India Pvt. Ltd. Tel: +91 9892193636. E-mail: Lowepro@interfotoindia.com
