Toshiba has developed a new CMOS image sensor featuring 20MP on a chip size of 6.2×4.6mm, for compact digital camera use.
The company has successfully miniaturised a picture element to 1.2 micrometer and integrated 20MP on the conventional chip. Toshiba will begin sample shipment in January at a sample price of 2,500 yen apiece and will begin quantity production by summer.
