Pictures not sharp enough?

May 3, 2011 by spwordpress

I am an aspiring wildlife photographer. My equipment is modestly priced. Since I use slow lenses, I am unable to use faster shutter speeds. This results in pictures that do not look as sharp as those shot by professional photographers. If I increase the ISO, the pictures turn noisy. Any solution? I am using a Canon EOS 550D. Currently I do not use a tripod. Kadam Nair, via … [Read more...]

A Good Watchman

May 3, 2011 by spwordpress

SP reader Rakesh Babu should be commended for taking a picture of the humble crow (not many people photograph crows!). Not being a posed picture, Rakesh probably could not control the background illumination, which has provided low separation between the crow and the darker shade of green background. The overall contrast is low and the picture seems a bit dull.In the edited … [Read more...]

Blend in a New Sky

April 19, 2011 by spwordpress

It is comparatively easy to replace the sky in Photoshop when the horizon line is more or less even. In our case, ‘A’ has some … [Read more...]

Setting up a studio

April 15, 2011 by spwordpress

I am a wedding photographer. I have a Canon 350D with 18-55mm kit lens, but plan to start my own business of shooting model portfolios. 1. Is my camera and lens good enough for the purpose? 2. How many and which lights should I have at first?3. What should be the studio measurements? My room measures 10 x10ft. 4. Which and how many backdrops will I need? 5. What will be the … [Read more...]
