GoPro’s first stint into the drone photography market took a plunge due to a few technical issues. The company officially recalled their Karma drones after discovering that a small number of Karma units lost power while in operation. The company ensured that they will be investigating the issue, working in collaboration with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Federal Aviation Administration. GoPro had assured its customers that the company will provide a full refund on returns of the Karma drones. The company recently announced that they will be offering a free Hero5 Black camera as part of its Karma drone refund. The $400 action camera launched at the same time as the Karma, and is one of only three cameras compatible with the drone. “Once your complete return has been processed and refund issued, we will send you a Hero5 Black as a thank you,” GoPro says.
