“Growing up, I spent a major part of my childhood around nature and in travelling. All these experiences, and opportunities made me want to capture everything I saw and felt.
During my under-gradua-tion course, I had the privilege to par-ticipate in a guest lecture by Mr. Iqbal Mohammed. Even now I can vividly recall the stunning images he showed us. These pictures had a compelling part to play in my choice to pursue photography”, revealed promising and gifted photographer, S. Mohammed Riyaz.
Seeking to expand his knowledge, and to cultivate strong technical and aesthetic skills, Riyaz is currently pursuing a two-year diploma in professional photography from ‘Shari Academy’, in Mumbai. The shift to Mumbai, from Coimbatore has in itself been an experience. Photography aside, he learnt how to explore the numerous opportunities available for a budding photographer like him. New destinations, and journeys are a prerequisite for a photographer like him, whose forte includes Wild Life, Nature and Landscapes. In addition to this, he is also interested in photographing spaces, people, photo essays and fine-art photography, which in quite a “subjective term”.
“After the few years I have spent in photography, I have realized that this is the ultimate joy, complete satisfaction. Photography adds another dimension to all things beautiful. It is inexplicable. The equipment I use include the Canon 5D Mark II and the Canon 7D. My lens collection include the Canon 17-40mm, 50mm, 100mm macro and the 100-400. Besides these, I also use a couple of Neutral Density, Haze and Polarizing filters. A Canon 580EX II flash, and a Manfrotto tripod. Equipment is not the main factor for good photographs. One fact all photographers must remember is that, the best camera in the world is the one you have with you when you require it the most” says Riyaz.
