Panasonic to close Blu-Ray and DVD player plant Panasonic will shut down their Blu-Ray and DVD player plant in eastern Slovakia as a result of declining sales. The factory in the town of Krombapachy, which employs 650 workers, will be closed on December 31, 2014. The traditional TV and DVD industry has taken a hit due to increase in online video streaming services like Netflix, Tablets and large Smartphones.
