Sony announced the launch of three new lenses for its NEX system cameras: the Carl Zeiss T* 16-70mm F/4.0, the 18-105mm F/4.0 G, and a new black version of its existing 50mm F/1.8. The 16-70mm (24-105mm equivalent) F/4.0 Zeiss lens has lens coatings to reduce lens flare and ghosting, and has five elements (four aspherical elements and a Glass ED element). The 18-105mm (27- 157.5mm equivalent) F/4.0 G also has five elements (two glass ED elements, and three aspherical elements), while the new black 50mm F/1.8 has the same lens construction and specifications as earlier models. The 50mm prime and 16-70mm F/4.0 are available from September for US$300 and US$1,000 respectively; the 18-105mm F/4.0 G is expected to be available from December for US$600.
