Wonder Bike

August 17, 2011 by spwordpress

SP reader Deepak K. Pradhan from New Delhi wants to know how this picture of this ‘wonder bike’ could be improved. The ‘chopper’ was shot at the Canon India Showroom at Delhi.Since you had no control over the lighting, I shall not discuss that part. But we certainly can discuss the framing. It seems to me that you have shot the picture at eye level, and the angle you have … [Read more...]

Old Tree Trunk

July 15, 2011 by spwordpress

SP reader Deoyani Deokar from Mumbai says: “This photograph of a half broken old tree trunk was taken in ‘Van Vihar Park’ at Manali in the late afternoon/evening time, as I wanted to capture its different shape. The picture is edited by “Enhance picture” effect with slightly less exposure. No other editing has been done on it.” I appreciate your effort but there are a few … [Read more...]

Garden Shot

June 8, 2011 by spwordpress

Not being a posed picture, Rakesh probably could not control the background illumination, which has provided low separation between the crow and the darker shade of green background. The overall contrast is low and the picture seems a bit dull.In the edited … [Read more...]

The Temple

April 15, 2011 by spwordpress

SP reader Nomeesh Dubey from Madhya Pradesh has sent us this picture for evaluation. As a general guideline, we must ask ourselves as to what is it that has prompted us to take the picture? The answer will tell us where to focus the lens and the prominence we need to give to that element. In your picture, Nomeesh, I take it that the temple “gopuram”, along with the red flag, … [Read more...]
