Renowned celebrity portraitist, Gautam Rajadhyaksha, 61, whose camera has captured the different moods of some of the most glamorous people in tinsel town, passed away recently at his residence in Mumbai, following a massive heart attack.
The portfolios and portraits shot by this celebrity lensman were known to have helped propel the careers of several actors and models, including Tina Munim, Kajol, Abhishek Bachchan and Sheetal Mallar.
Gautam’s soft-focus style of photography was unique and his artistic personality was unmatched. His mantra was that he looked for untapped and unpredictable beauty in his subjects. His favourite muses included the ethereal Nutan for her sheer beauty, and versatile Madhuri Dixit, for her spontaneity. In 1997, he released a coffee table book “Faces”, comprising portraits of several leading actresses over the years from Durga Khote, to Aishwarya Rai in recent times.
His funeral at Chandanwadi crematorium was attended by several leading celebrities, professional photographers and well wishers. Smart Photography offers its condolences and pray that his soul rest in peace.
