Canon has planned to cut shipment targets of D-SLRs and compact digicams due to the flood that affected Thailand, since the required components are facing severe shortage.
The shipment target for the fiscal 2011 of D-SLR cameras will be 7.2 million units less 100K units than projection and 19 million compacts, less 1 million than original plans. This may affect total revenue for fiscal 2011 to end December 31st to post 3,650 billion yen (US$45.6 billion) less 50 billion yen, and profit in operation to 360 billion yen (US$4.5 billion), less 20 billion yen and net profit to 230 billion yen (US$2.87 billion) less 30 billion yen.
