Nikon announced a new FX-format, or full 35mm size, fast normal lens to be available from June 2011 on.
The ‘AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G’ adopts SMW system for quiet and fast AF operation and allows manual focusing. The lens uses an aspherical element in its 7-in-6 construction, and focuses down to a minimum distance of 0.45m to achieve 0.15X magnification. Weighing approximately 185g, the lens is priced at 28,350 yen (US$350).
