Nissin Japan has launched a new model in its Power Pack series. The Power Pack PS8 for Canon and Nikon is priced 19,800 yen (US$220) on www.nissindigital.com.
Power is provided through a dedicated Ni-HM cassette battery, that allows about 700 flashes per full charge. Since it is a cassette battery, it can be exchanged swiftly when the power drains out with an extra battery cassette; the Ni-HM pack 3000, which sells for 6,980 yen (US$75). The battery life is about 550 times full power output, and runs about 500 cycles of charge. The unit is lighter than its preceding model, the PS-300. The Nissin Power Pack PS 8 comes with a power supply cable for a Canon, a Nikon or a Sony D-SLR camera use (and applicable to Pentax with power code for Nissin PS300), a Ni-MH battery pack, an AC adapter and a power cable for AC adapter, strap and soft case (rainproof ).
