Sony Corp. announced the release of two new models of PlayStation 4. One of which is the 4K image displayable PS4 Pro and the other is a miniaturized PS4, lowering its cost by 5000 yen with a selling price of 29980 yen. The new PS4 is already available in the market while the PS4 Pro will be available in November, 2016 for 44980 yen.
The PS4 Pro can display videos and games in 4K resolution. The users can enjoy high-resolution movies provided by Netflix or other movie distributors. The miniaturized PS4 maintains the basic features of the PS4 and consumes less electricity. Around 30% lesser than the current models, says Sony. The company hopes to attract gaming enthusiasts with the PS4 Pro and divert them from smartphone games and novices to PS4.
The current PS4 that was introduced in November 2013 have sold 40 million units by May of this year, one of the fastest selling console in the PS family. The company has thus far renewed the model in 6 to 7 years. Sony will continue to renew more frequently than before.
