Shoot from the Hip – Cotton Carrier Camera Vest System

May 16, 2011 by spwordpress

There are many ways to carry your camera around. Some photographers prefer to hang them down their necks, while some others carry them in backpacks or shoulder bags.

But if you are an adventure photographer, these methods can prove cumbersome for your job. Enter the Cotton Carrier Camera Vest System, a plausible solution for this.

The Cotton Carrier Camera Vest system is a modular harness for carrying D-SLRs. The system can be used to carry two camera bodies with attached lenses. The camera vest is made of durable and comfortable 1680 Denier Polypropylene material. It is manufactured as a one-size-fits-all design and has a Lexan camera receptacle (an attachment that allows you to fit the camera) to attach the camera. The kit includes a removable side holster, also fitted with a Lexan camera receptacle. You can attach this holster either to the camera vest or to a lens bag system included in the kit. The lens bag system can accept a wide-angle or telephoto zoom lens. This can also be worn separately from the harness using the supplied shoulder strap.

To fit a camera to the holster, you need to first attach a Camera Hub to the tripod mount. If you buy the vest system for all cameras, you will receive two types of camera hubs—regular and angled. The regular camera hub allows you to attach a mid-size D-SLR while the angled one will make it effortless to carry a professional body with an attached medium telephoto zoom lens. The hub is made of anodized aluminum with a stainless steel marine grade bolt and a high-density rubber washer. The kit also includes two camera tethers for extra security.

The Cotton Carrier Camera Vest System makes it effortless to carry professional cameras, which would otherwise be a hassle. The equipment can be securely fastened to the system so that you do not need to bother about the camera getting detached and falling off.

The camera vest system offers compatibility with the Manfrotto RC2 and Arca Swiss compatible quick release systems with their new adapter plates. Being modular, the system can be customized to accept a wide range of tripod plates and accessories.
