Fujifilm announced a budget compact model – the FinePix JX420, featuring a 5X zoom lens and 16MP CCD sensor, reportedly selling for 12,800 yen (US$160).
Available in four colours; red, black, pink and silver, this compact camera gives enough picture-taking programs, including intelligent scene recognition which selects the most suitable mode out of 6-scene selections. When connected to a PC, it can upload videos/pictures onto SNS like YouTube, mixi and Facebook.
The JX420 employs a 1/2.3-inch 16MP (effective) CCD image sensor, Fujinon 28-140mm equivalent f/2.6-6.2 zoom lens focussing down to a minimum distance of 10cm at the wideangle end, an electronic image stabilisation system, and a 2.7-inch TFT colour LCD monitor. A removable SD/SDHC memory card stores captured images and a dedicated Li-ion battery pack (NP-45 A/B) powers the camera. The compact camera measures (WHD) 95.2 x 57.2 x 24.3mm, weighing 124g with battery and card.
