HOYA has revealed a new mirrorless camera, the “PENTAX Q” which is fittedwith a new Q lens mount, making it a part of the mirrorless system camera market.
The new Pentax Q is equipped with a 1/2.3-inch 12.4 megapixel (effective) CMOS image sensor. The sensor used is smaller than the Micro Four Thirds sensor used by Olympus and Panasonic.
The diameter of the Q mount is 29mm and flange-back is 9.2mm. The camera adopts a sensor-shift image stabilization system. The LCD image screen is 3.0-inch, and the model is fitted with a DR II dust removal system (super sonic vibration).
The manufacturer expects to produce 20,000 units in black and white finish to begin with. A kit including a mono-focal length Q1 lens will reportedly sell for around 70K yen (US$870), and a kit including a Q1 lens and a Q2 standard zoom lens around 90K yen (US$1,120). The date of availability is yet to be announced.
